I'm wondering if a friend lent me his windows vista retail DVD, and I
purchased a key from windows marketplace, could I then use that key I
purchased to do a fresh install of Vista via the DVD? Or can I only use
that key with the downloadable files which require me to do an install of
vista from within XP?
Thanks,
Monty

Depends whether you bought a Retail Vista or an Upgrade Vista. Retail
will allow the former, and upgrade will allow the latter.

You can use your product key and your friend's dvd. All retail Vista dvd's
are the same. There is only one retail x86 dvd and one x64 dvd.
