we just aquired 5 companies. My company will house 4 accounting servers that
a few people from the other 5 companies will need to get to. Our plan is to
have them log into a Terminal server and run their apps from there. I don't
want them to have user rights to our domain, but they need to be able to
login to the term-server.Users in my company will also need to access these
servers. what is the best way to set this up?

Create a non-domain terminal server with the required accounts. Create
matching local accounts on the 4 servers.

Build a standard TS in your domain, provide domain accounts access to what
they need. Create local accounts for the foreign users and provide the
access they need.

If you are running AD 2003 you could create a trust to just this server and
then you wouldn't have to manage the local accounts. If you don't place
this in thedomain then your domain users are going to need a second account.
If you do place it in the domain then the foreign users need to remember to
select the local machine when authenticating on the gina.

We have this situation at work as well, we chose to create accounts in the
domain for our foreign users. Then the ame rules applied to everyone.

Good Luck
