I have an EPOX MB it's the EP-MVP3G2 it says it will
handle the following CPU's AMD K6-2/K6 III, Cyrix
6x86MX/MII and idt C6 Winchip operating at 133-500 Mhg
with 321 ZIF socket and allows for faster CPUS that come
around in the future. What I want to know is what is the
fastest CPU it will currently handle and how do I set up
the jumpers to allow for that CPU.

This is an Older board (2) years or so, and I want to
build a pc out of it, I got a newer board faster better
etc..

I realize this has nothing to do with windows, if someone
could point me towards a newsgroup dealing with this TIA

At that website, that board's FAQ contains the list of tested processors
& speeds and a correction to a jumper setting misprint. You might also
try some overclocker sites.

You're welcome, and good luck!
Thanks the epox website looks good for a start.

Many thanks for the url.
After careful consideration, (and looking at the current
costs of a new MB/CPU) I have come to the conclusion that
it's more cost effective to purchase a new MB/CPU, this
EPOX although not that old, is severly limited to CPU speed
compared with current speeds, and costs are pretty good.
So thanks for the tips and advice.

I have a VERY old (but W2k-capable) AMD K5-100 64MB machine on the tag
end of my LAN. Nice for file transfer type backup. It's a shame to throw
a good mainboard away... :-)
