Question about my hardrive and free space and used space

I don't know what's going on.

My harddrive has 186 gigs. It says that I am using over 83 gigs! I don't
get it.
I can account for 20 or so gigs, but this is the first time that I cannot
account for the used space, especially 60 gigs.

How do I do a search to see where my used gigs are broken down so I can
determine if I can get rid of it.

How about the Details View in Windows Explorer? It lists the size of all
files. To see folder sizes, right-click on a folder and select Properties
from the context menu. You'd get better suggestions if you provided more
information, such as:

Version/Edition of Windows?
Software installed and frequently used?

A guess: If you're running Vista, when is the last time you removed older
restore points through Disk Cleanup? As updates through WU are frequent, the
old restore points can really add up in terms of storage.

I'm running XP and I did do a Disk Cleanup recently.

I'll try your suggestion, but will it arrange in one place all of the files
and folders that hold large gigs, such as this 60 gig mystery?
