Question about large data entry products

I am relatively new to Access and am in charge of maintaing a large client database...my question pertainss to how i might increase my productivity..
I have noticed that when entering values in consecutive fields, that Access will automatically compute the next logical value in the subsequent field. for example, if I am assigning clients numerical values, say starting at 1, if i press the down arrow the number 2 will automatically appear in the next field, and 3 and 4 and so on....i'm not sure how to turn this function on and off
in short my question is how i can control this function when i'm entering new data. i don't want to define a formula that will apply to all the database, i only want to be able to quickly generate new values in a long string of fields in the data entry screen under the "Records" menu. if this makes sense to anyone, i would greatly appreciate your input. i will check this message board, or if possible backchannel me at (e-mail address removed)
thanks!

The short answer is that you can't turn that 'feature' off.

You shouldn't use tables to enter data anyway. Create a form - continuous
or datasheet style. It won't behave this way.

Unfortunately, there is no way to turn that 'feature' off, or control it in
any way.

In general, there is relatively little you can do to change the default
behaviour if you enter data directly into tables. You have much more power,
control, and flexibility if you use forms for data entry.
