I have WindowsXP

I want explorer to open automatically at the C: directory from the Startup
program.

I did this by going by the KB307856 article and in the "target" box
putting:-

%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /root, C:\

I want the Explorer Bar (in the "View" menu) to open automatically in the
"Folders" view, but I cannot do this.

Can someone help me here?
Regards Frank

Because the computer came with the Explorer showing a copy of "My
Documents".
I need to get to the other partition quickly.

Why do you want it rooted at c:,

explorer /e,c:\

From MSDN:

With a rooted view, a new instance of Windows Explorer is created that displays the contents of the extension as a separate namespace. The tree view of a rooted view shows only those folders that are part of the extension. Users cannot navigate from a rooted view to other parts of the Shell namespace.

Extensions are implemented in the same way for rooted views as they are for normal views. The only difference is in the way the contents of the extension are displayed by Windows Explorer. It is even possible to have normal and rooted views of the same extension.

I'm not quite clear on your explanation, but I put a shorcut to

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.SCF

on my desktop and get my C drive with a folders view when I click it.
