First off, I want to appologize for my apparent lack of basic knowledge in
this field, but I am delving into it for the first time...

I will soon have a lap top, which I will wireless network with my cable
modem/desktop computer. My question is this: Will I be able to access
programs that are on my desktop computer, with the laptop, so I won't have
to reinstall them on the laptop?

Access them yes, but generally most modern commercial programs
will still have to be installed (user-saved parameters, license
keys and registry entries put on the system running the
application). What you could do is map a drive to the desktop
and see if it'll install to that mapped drive... which might
happen to be same folder it was already installed into, but it
may vary per application if that's always a workable solution.

Keep in mind that running applications over a wifi connection can
be QUITE a bit slower than from the notebook's hard drive.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll keep that in mind.
