Question about HD trays

If I have a removable rack HD tray that is UDMA will it still allow the HD
to operate at UDMA speed if I slot it in an older rack designed for old 40
strand IDE? (Where the particular PC's motherboard of course supports UDMA
and internal IDE cables are all 80 conductor cable etc). As I see it, the
mounted rack is just a conduit between the IDE cable and the tray/HD, so it
shouldn't matter, but I'm not sure.

Many thanks

Give your fellow Ozzie, "Rod Speed", a call on that. <LOL!!>

It's *not supposed* to work well because the connectors used for
40 conductor cables don't have the internal connections that ground
the 40 ground wires that are interspersed with the 40 signal wires
of an 80-conductor cable. But hey! Give it a try. If it doesn't work,
get a newer removable drive rack that has a connector for 80-wire
cable.
