If this question has been asked in the past, I apologize the repeat posting:

OK, here it is:

I go to the windows update page and scan for updates (patches, drivers,
etc.) For at least the last 3-5 updates, it shows "Security Update for
Windows (819696)". I have attempted to install this update for as many times
as I have been to the update site. I'm perplexed that this update keeps
appearing.Under the "View installation history", it shows that it has in
fact installed.

My question: Why does is still show as an available update?

TIA for any information.

This has worked for many. Go to add/remove in control panel, delete the up
date (819696) then download and reinstall it.

I checked in add/remove programs...not there

In addition, there is no $NtUninstallKB819696$ folder.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

You mention going to the Windows update page and scanning
for updates. I wasn't sure if you meant that you looked
around that location for appropriate updates or that you
let Microsoft scan your machine to see if you needed to
download an update(s). To have Microsoft check your
computer goto:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Open Control Panel, go to the Help drop down menu, and
click on 'About Windows'. If Service Pack 1 is installed
it will be listed there - on my computer it's on the
second line.

As your post states, I go to that web site, and scan for updates.

BTW, I do have SP1 installed.
