Hello-
I am currently running xp professional on my pc at home.
My computer has been giving me some problems and has been
running rather slow lately so I would like to do a clean
installation but not sure how the xp activation works
since I've already activated the prod key the first time I
installed it. Well, what I'm planning to do is use a 20
gig hard drive that I just got and reinstall xp home on
that hard drive and then reformat the one i'm currently
using and slave it to store data since it's a much larger
disk. My question is will I have any problems reactivating
windows again since I'll be using a different hard drive.
The only hardware components that have changed from the
first time I installed xp prof. will be this new hard
drive and I have also added an additional 256 mb or RAM
since my first activation of xp. And also, what file sytem
should I be using on the 20 gig hard drive installation.
NTFS or FAT? Please advise, Thank you!

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

If it's been more than 120 days since you last activated that
specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to activate via the
Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a
5 minute phone call.
