Querying a drive

How can I tell if a drive is a CD drive or not?
I have directory information for the drive, but cannot see how to determine
if it is a cd drive or not.

Thanks, that got it working so I now know what the drive type is.
Is there a way to query the drive to see if it contains media, and one step
further, whether it is writeable.
This applies for any removeable drive, and CD drives.
