Query design - select fields always default to "group by"

When designing queries (happen to be on ODBC tables) I'll select
fields and then by default "Group By" is selected under the total /
aggregation row.

Is there some setting that is causing this? By default, I'd prefer to
just be running straight-up select queries. Quite annoying to have to
deselect all those aggregation settings.

Thx

Unselect the Greek Sigma icon in the toolbar.

What's this newsgroup coming to when
neither post mentions
