I have recently noticed that pin 21 on the IDE interface on a Quantum
Fireball AS 30GB HD in my posession is much shorter than the other
pins. Is this normal or possibly a defect?

Thanks,

jahanjoon

Nope.

Yep.

Some butcher, you ? has forced the ribbon cable on
backwards. There's a missing pin 20 and a blanked off
hole in the better ribbon cables and when the cable is put
on backwards, that forces pin 21 back into the connector.

I've reported you to the RSPCPPQHDBCBs.

You'll be soorree...

sorry to dissapoint but the pin above pin 20 is pin 19, pin 21 is the
in the next column of pins, (pins pins everywhere)

Please be gentle, i promise i am a first time offender

sorry to dissapoint

Only your rather pathetic response did that.
but the pin above pin 20 is pin 19,

Duh. But with some drives its possible for a butcher to get
the connector one column over too and still bugger it like
that while attempting to force the connector on backwards.
(pins pins everywhere)

Wrong again. They're all neatly lined up in two rows.
Please be gentle,

You werent with that poor drive,
i promise i am a first time offender

Not a good enough excuse. Summary execution
for you due to the utter obscenity of your crime.

My futile attempt to get some proper feedback on my question is met by an
aspiring comedian in the wrong newsgroup.

Obvious lie. Your original question about whether its
normal for that pin to be like that was answered, fool.

I also told you how that likely happened.

You wont see that pin pushed back into
the connector like that any other way.

Reams of your crap flushed where it belongs.

you'd have to be the inept fool who's attempted to push a cable into
the connector upside down, not only is it impossible due not only to
the key slot on the connector but also the blocked pin 20 on the
cable.

in a single word:

whatever

you'd have to be the inept fool who's attempted
to push a cable into the connector upside down,

Have fun explaining how else that pin
got pushed back into the connector.
not only is it impossible due not
only to the key slot on the connector

Quite a few ribbon cable connector
dont have the notch that matches that
missing bit in the drive connector.
but also the blocked pin 20 on the cable.

Easy to put the ribbon connector on one column over.
in a single word:

Even someone as stupid as you should have noticed
that you used a tad more than a single word, cretin.
