Hi, I need an advice how to capture videos from my Sony HC-32 camera in the
best quality possible. So far, I have been experiencing a range of problemes,
like:
- after about 5 minutes, the recording is being stopped repatedly for about
one second, and these gaps make the whole thing just rubbish,
- sound quality is sometimes not good,
- picture quality is poor.
Which is the best setting? I am using the firewire connection and the
product is therefore supposed to be perfect.
Thank you for your help

Use dv-avi as the capture file format.
Defrag hdd.
Make sure you have plenty of space on the hdd, dv-avi = 13gb per hour.
turn off all uneeded apps, such as screensaver,
internet/firewall/anti-virus/power save mode/ perhaps use an app like
enditall to see what else is running. see this for more help

Do scans for any malware/spyware and remove.
Use a seperate hdd to the OS one to capture to, or set up a partion.
Ensure dma is enabled on the hdd.
Power the cam by mains not battery.
have the hdd formatted in ntfs, as fat32 has file size limitations.
Depending on the pc specs, you may need to upgrade pieces, hdd should be
7,200rpm ones.
That's about all I can think of :)

Thank you, Graham. So far, the DV-AVI setting was delivering rather horrible
results. I will follow your advice. Thank you again. George
