Hp Pavilion 511n
Windows XP Home Edition
1.3 GHZ Celeron Processor
384 MB RAM
1-40Gig Seagate ST340810A Hard Drive (C) Primary Master
(set at cable select)
1-80Gig Seagate ST380020A Hard Drive (F) Primary Slave
(set at cable select)
1-hp cd-writer (D) Secondary Master (set at cable select)
1-hp dvd-writer 300i (G) Secondary Slave (set a cable
select)
1-hp floppy drive (A)
1-Iomega Zip 100 external drive (E)
1-Winnov PCI video capture card
1-56K Internal modem
I recently installed the second hard drive (Seagate
ST380020A) and the hp dvd-writer 300i to use as equipment
for analog video capture and writing to DVD. I installed
the software supplied with the hp 300i and the downloaded
Seagate DiscWizard for hard drive set-up. When I start
up the computer I get the following message:

XXX: qttask.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into
drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR5

Continue Try Again Cancel

The boot sequence is as follows:
1-HP Invent screen
2-Log-on screen
3-Welcome screen
4-The desktop appears with the desktop icons and the
toolbars (Windows at the bottom and the Office toolbar on
the right margin)
5- Then the error message shown above

I click either Continue or Cancel and everything
works fine, although sometimes I cannot find the dvd-
writer under "my computer". If I run Windows "Add
Hardware" the drive shows up. I can create folders on
either hard drive and manipulate either one. I have gone
into Administrative Tools and looked at the disks under
Disk Management and the info states that the drives are
working properly and are healthy.
Why do I keep getting the error message and what
can I do to resolve this?

Thanks, dre1x

Start, Run (type) MSCONFIG (enter)

Uncheck the entry for qttask.exe It is the file for starting Quick Time
at startup... and is not needed, even to run Quick Time.

Thanks for the help, I discovered exactly what you said,
I simply uninstalled Quick time, however, based on what
you've told me, I may fiddle around with it again.
