Scenario:
I have a client who currently has an NT4 PDC domain server which runs one
particular application. I am looking at replacing it with a new W2K Domain
server. There may be a requirement to have them both running concurrently
temporarily as an application they have may not operate under 2000. My
intention is to phase out the NT4 server once they have migrated to the new
2000 friendly app.
Question:
1. I need to transfer data files from the NT4 to the new 2000 server via the
network. As I can't demote the NT4 PDC, would the best solution be to make
the 2000 server part of the NT4 domain initially to copy the data?
2. Is there a way to get them both running under the same domain name, but
get the users to login via the new 2000 Server? As the NT4 is a PDC, is it
going to kick up a stink?
3. Has anyone used Novastor Novabackup 7.1 to backup to a DVD-RW drive? Are
there any hassles?
Thanks for your help.
