Hallo group!

Is it possible to deactivate the 'New Hardware found' wizard? We have a
problem with a PCI board that is found with a different signature each time
our system reboots. This results in the hardware wizard showing up to
install it again. It would be nice to install the board once and then
disable the wizard. Does anyone know about such a possibility?
Every hint is appreciated.

Regards, Chris

Have you tried reseating card in another slot?
ie remove card, reboot. shutdown, reinstall card

Thank DL,

Yes, I did that several times. The problem is that the SUBSYS ID changes
from boot to boot, no matter what slot I use. The problem does not occur on
all PCs I tried so far and does not depend on the hardware configuration.
However, it occurs on faster PCs with about 2,4GHz CPUs.

Jetro,

this seems to be a global problem with this type of board. It seems we will
have to redesign it in order to avoid the problem. Unfortunately, this board
is in the market for some years and the problem didn't show up until now. It
seems to depend on the PC speed, as I already detailed within my last
answer.

Chris - a complete shot in the dark, but
could this behavior be in any way related
to ACPI and its relationship to Plug&Play
in W2k?

PCI bus speed is still unchanged :o)
Wild guess - is it correlating somehow with PIC/APIC mode and BIOS itself?
Do you get the same results in DOS?
