Although not required yet, I'm curious to know if using any of
the restore/repair utilities from the XP BootCD will play havoc
with the SP1 update, requiring me to re-install SP1?

Thanks,

Hi,

If you run a repair installation, you will need to redo all updates,
including SP1 unless it is already included in your version of WindowsXP.

No, running the repair tools included with XP will check for file corruption and also version check for earlier versions of files on
the system. File versions later than those included on the original install are not touched.

To run this tool you need to open a dos shell (cmd prompt) and use the command sfc /scannow. The original CD should be inserted
when requested.
