Hi all,

I have a mirrored disc pair with a problem on a P4P800 connected to the SATA
controller.
I wish to recover the data on either or both these discs to another disc IE
save it.

Is it safe to pull such a disc out and connect it as a single SATA disc onto
another Intel ICH5R based system (not asus unfortunately)? IE if I just
moved the drive to another machine, would I be able to read it? It has
Windows 2000 Server on...

Probably. But why not just hook a PATA drive up to the IDE connector and
image the drive in question?

Mr Willie,

Thanks, it worked.

BTW: I recovered the data on system with a gigabyte mobo with Intel P4 ICH5R
and had to upgrade the raid drivers to match the version of the asus
system - IAA came up with a message saying effectively the drivers I had
were out of date first time I tried.

So, these raid arrays do work across h/w vendors systems so long as the
drivers are in synch & for those interested, IAA puts a flashing icon in the
task bar when you are running the system with a broken mirror.

Glad it worked out. The nice thing about Raid1 is that both drives are able
to operate independently and should, at least theoretically, be able to be
connected to any controller that supports the drive, raid or not.
