Q&A Import .asc missing data

I have Q&A Database (DOS Version) that I need to get into Access. I have
exported it from Q&A several times using different formats. Each format has
its problems but I have most of the data in Access. However one field is
truncated for some records but not others.

I tired .asc and .dbf but in each case this particular field gets cut off
for some records - NOT all. The field in question has the FICA # and includes
the dash "-" at times not others. Also the users added text notes to this
field like "123-65-4789 is Wife's #"

Further the cut offs r not consistent. In one export record 45678 may be
truncated while the next export it comes in fine but 87654 is truncated when
it wasn't before.

Any idea what is happening and how to get around it. (Other then just
exporting X times until I either get it all or give up)?

Is the data enclosed in double quotes as your example shows?
"123-65-4789 is Wife's #"
If so, go to the Advance button on the import wizard and set the Text
Qualifier.

If not enclosed, see it the other program can export the data with a text
qualifier or fixed width text.

No, it isn't. I was using the fixed lenght option and set it for 50 spaces,
well beyond the longest text string in the field. But I had not thought of
the Quote delimited option. Worth a try.

Thanks.
