..... release of Python 2.3 on July 29, 2003.

This is a final, stable release,
and we recommend Python users upgrade to this version

http://www.python.org/2.3/

[ Download : 9.2 MB ] ( Full Install : 27.8 MB with Docs )

The included Python documentation installs at about 12 MB
and can be skipped at install time if desired ...

Just in case someone wants more info:
"What is Python?" "Python is an interpreted, interactive, object-
oriented programming language."

And adding to that: it's cross-platform and runs on almost every platform
that's used by more than 3 people... ;-)
(including Windows, MacOS and Linux, but also OS/2, WinCE and DOS...)

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is Python? Is it freeware?

Trevor ...

Python is a VERY nice programming language,
probably the best one I've used in over 35 years
of programming ...

It is Free and Open Source ...

A bit more borrowing a few lines previously
posted in this thread by Boomer and JanC ...

"What is Python?"

"Python is an interpreted, interactive,
object-oriented programming language."
