One way or another I've contracted the lovely pwsteal.tarno.b virus and can't get the freakin' thing off my system. It has infected my svchost.exe file which I cannot delete, quarantine, repair....in other words, I can do nothing with this puppy! I've tromped my way through the Symantic site, been there done that with all their removal exercises and that thing is still here. Please tell me I don't have to reload my system...that thought just makes me shiver.

Download and run this free virus detection utility , Housecall . Once you
have found and deleted the viruses turn off System Restore to delete the
virus in these protected files. Restart System Restore after next reboot.

Jym, thanks for your advice, however, I cannot download that file, I keep getting an invalid zip file error. Any other suggestions? Anyone? By the way, my system restore is still off from when I was using the Symantic instructions - I was an idiot and forgot to turn it back on. I do know from trying the Symantic variations of getting rid of this puppy that I cannot access that file no way no how. Access is denied 9 ways to Sunday and XP will NOT allow me to delete it. It keeps telling me the file is either write protected or being used. I have checked it's attributes and the read only, archive and hidden boxes are empty.
