Imported messages from Windows Mail and Outlook Express 6 into
Windows Mail. Merged imported messages into local folder. Selecting
Show All Messages all messages were visible. Selecting Group
Messages by Conversation and imported messages did not display.

Reviewed carefully all known reasons why they might not display
revealing no explanation. Compacted and no change.

Is this a known bug?

This is a known bug. I don't know any fix besides unchecking Group
Messages" to read them. It happens in both mail and news.

Thanks Frank for the information.

I have a similar issue except that no messages are displayed, even though
messages are not grouped. I know the messages are there, and the folder
properties confirm that, but the message window says "There are no messages
in this view". For a while I could work around this by dragging the Imported
folder into the Deleted Items folder and then restarting WM. Then I would
drag the Imported Folder back out of the Deleted Items folder and re-expand
it. It was a pain, but it worked. Now I can't drag the Imported Folder into
the Deleted Items folder anymore and I can't even create new folders. In the
new folder creation dialog, the list of folders where the new folder can go
is empty unless I have already highlighted the Local Folders directory on the
folder list. Is my WM database corrupt? Could McAfee be responsible?

Your message is certainly unclear.

1. In one of your folders that you are sure has messages, click View |
Current View and make sure "Show all messages" is the only thing checked.
BTW, how are you sure it contains messages?

2. If the are messages in a folder under Recovered Messages that you want
to move to an existing folder, drag the messages, not the folder.

3. If there is a folder under Recovered Messages that has messages in it
but it does not exist under Local Folders, drag it to Local Folders.

4. If Recovered Messages contains any newsgroup folders just delete them.

5. McAfee and Norton are incompatible with WinMail and should be
uninstalled. Email scanning should be turned off in any other anti-virus
and EML files should be excluded from the regular scan.
