My question to the experts is:I bought Dell Inspiron 9300. I added 2G
of memory but the system was acting slower than my old Latitude. So, I
removed 1G and now it is working very smoothly. Does that mean that
less is better?

Correct. It`s probably what your machine likes best.

Did you change the page file size or do you let windows do it. If your HDD
is fragmented, it may have a problem creating a page file of the size it
wants (usually 1.5-2x the RAM size). I would try defragmenting to see if
that helps, and then change the file size to less than recommended, since
you don't really need it all.

How can change the size of the page file in WinXp?.

Go to ...."Control Panel" ......"System" ....."Advanced
Tab" ..... "Performance Box" ....."Settings" .....
"Advanced Tab" ...."Virtual Memory" ...."Change"
