is this possible? and then run analysis on just the quant part?

i only need this for a few parts in the spreadsheet, so i dont want to
insert entirely new columns across the entire spreadsheet, but is this the
only solution?

i hope that i explained this right!

You could probably do it.

Then parse out the portion you want in other calculations -- maybe using
=search(), =mid(), =left() functions.

But it really makes life more difficult to do things.

ps.

I should have added that even though this is possible, but it's a very, very,
very bad idea. I wouldn't do it.

ahahah thank you for your help!! I think the best solution is to just add
columns...which I didnt want to do because they will be mostly empty and make
the spreadsheet larger....but i cant think of any other solution! and i dont
want to spend too much more time on this. let me know if you think of
anything! and thanks again.

Mostly empty columns do not make the sheet any bigger.

You have a finite number of columns per sheet and cannot "add" more or
remove any.
