Okay, suppose I wanted to put a graphic on a web page with the word
"copyright" over it. Is there anything apart from something like a
word processor that would make that easy ?

My main interest is in "placement" and/or repeatability.

For example. Suppose I manually put that word at a 40 degree slant
across the picture. How could I repeat that angle for every subsequent
picture ?

Also, suppose I wanted to put the word vertically, horizontally or
diagonally AND wanted it exactly in the middle of that (imaginary)
line. How would I do it ?

Regards, John.

The word you would add to your image/s would be a graphic.

Dunno.

Lining up the graphic on different sized pics could be a problem..

It shouldn't be. Assuming you wanted a horizontal, diagonal and vertical
version of your watermark, you'd have to generate a graphic for each.
Picture Shark then gives you 9 choices of position (basically a square
divided into 9), so you should be able to get consistent positioning with
different-sized grafix:

The main problem you might run into if your images vary wildly in size is
the watermark itself....it could be too tiny on huge images and totally
eclipse tiny images. I suppose you'd have to generate a few sizes and do
your images in bunches of similar-sized images.

You can try Multiple Image Resizer (horizontal/vertical option)
http://www.acumensystems.com/mir/
"With MIR .NET, you can resize images, add borders and text, rotate and
flip - with a few simple mouse clicks."

at 23 megs, I hope it can also decipher hieroglyphics and write poetry!
That a lot of program! Perhaps templates of borders make up the extra
bulk?

The Full Setup contains also the Microsoft .NET Framework (about 22 MB).
I don't recommend it for those who are the only user of their computer and
are accustomed to logon automatically in Windows XP.
If you install .NET Framework it changes it without a warning and then
you're forced to logon during the boot.
I weeded it out immediately.

The OP has put "photos" on the header but says "graphics" in the
actual message. FWIW, here goes:

See the following posting which describes how you can edit gif and
jpeg files, meaning you can add also text using MSPaint. The only low
side is the text can be flipped over 90 deg intervals only.

Hope this helps
