KIM

I have a 5 minute slideshow of photographs that I have
faded in and out, with accompanying music. Now I would
like to do a text overlay with the people's names but I
can't figure out how to get WMM to let me put the text
where I want it. It comes out right across their faces.
Is there a way to do this that I don't know of? I'm up
against a deadline so anyone who can help me IMMEDIATELY
will be my new best friend!

thanks, KIM

MM2 is prettly limited in that area. I suggest
adding the text to the images themselves, using
a photo editing program. Just remember to make
backup copies first, so you'll also have your
originals without the text.

Hello there,

Movie Maker does not give the option of where to put the text other than
those options given to you in the add text wizard.

John,
Had a look through your site for help on this one and it said to look at the
tutorial, but I couldn't find it anywhere!!!! Is it gone whilst you work on
this section?
Graham

Think about it this way:

Text overlay = Image overlay with images having the required text
authored seperately

Windows Movie Maker can be made to use image overlay if the overlay images
are authored in a specific manner: say: the background is pure black. Now
one can use the following custom key transition to overlay these title
images.
Black in these images will be removed showing the video underneath:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{C5B19592-145E-11D3-9F04-006008039E37}" >
<Transition name="MyOverlay" iconid="11">
<Param name="KeyType" value="0" />
<Param name="RGB" value="0" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Hello Graham,

The Tutorial section is dead, Long Live The Tutorial :)

Its all being incorporated into the FAQ section. I have massive amounts of
disjointed files to bring together. The first steps in that direction
started last night. The problem occurred because I changed direction twice.
In the end I have settled for the more labor intensive option because the
results are more usable for those new to the subject (I hope)

So from now on refer to the FAQ instead of the Tutorial.

Hi Kim,

Have you tried changing the text animation? Try the one called Subtitle,
when making a title. It will put the text at the bottom.
