putting my Canon MP 530 on my network - will any of these print servers do the job?

Almost by accident I came across a print server on the newegg web site
which supports WIA. I'm not familiar with WIA, but I understand that
it is a client-server architecture. OK, does that mean that I can
have this MFC on my network (via the print server) and people on any
system can print to this system? .. send faxes? ... scan documents
(using the ADF?)

I did some searching around on _reputable_ online stores and found
only four print servers that have USB 2.0 for MFCs:

- IOGear 2 port USB 2.0 Print/Storage server GMFPSU22W6. $140, from
CDW or $129 from B&H Photo.

-IOGear 1 port USB 2.0 print server GMFPSU21W6. $100, from B&H Photo,
available in August.

- Xterasys XP-111MFP Server. $44, from newegg.

-DLink RangeBooster G Multifunction USB Print Server. $84, from
Newegg.

I am familiar with IOGear and DLink but I never heard of Xterasys.
They are not in any of the local stores. Does anyone know about them
or the quality of their products? Are there any other manufacturers
who make a USB 2.0 print server for MFC devices?

Hi,
I just installed MP530. It did not ask the choice. It's on a printer
server but scan, fax is not working, only printing. Canon told that's
the case. Which server were you looking at? Mine is D--link DPR-1260.
When I had HP MFC, I could print and scan.

The list of print servers under consideration is in my original
message, which is above. I'm pretty sure that any print server that
does NOT indicate multifunction support will not provide it, otherwise
why would selected print servers advertise it?

Hi,
D-link is heavily for HP printers but they do only print and scan. No
faxing.
I got rid of HP Photosmart due to ink cost. I am happy with Canon. If I
want to scan I hook it up as local printer. Other times it's shared as
printer only.
