You can purchase an external DVD drive and connect it to your VAIO portable
computer and then copy to it. Probably around $150.00 with copying software
included. You can also buy the latest, fastest, fanciest little baby from
Sony, at $229.00 available here:

This is if your VAIO is a portable computer. If it is a desktop, you can add
an internal DVD drive, available at around $80.00 so it would be much
cheaper and Sony also has such. If you don't want to do this, you can also
use an external DVD drive with your desktop as long as you have either a
USB2 or FireWire port and you probably have a least a FireWire port, just
like a portable VAIO will have.
The next step is to play the DVD disk you made with your DVD player. Easier
said than done. Lucky for you the confusion about DVD formats has been
solved (almost) by the fact that new DVD drives will copy to all DVD formats
(-R,-RW,+R,+RW and now double sided DVD). So you need to look at your DVD
player manual and see which format it can play and then copy using this
format.
