Putting an image from a big disk to a small disk

I have a boot system created in 34 GB. hard disk and i syspreped it to
install in other systems with differen hard disk sizes. The data
occupy about 6 GB.
One of this system has 17 GB. hard disks and i am having problems. The
system doesn´t boot.
I´m using Ghost 8.3 to clone the disk.
Can somebody say to me if it is possible putting an image from a big
disk to a small disk?
Some tool better than Ghost to do it?

Its important to image the physical drive and not just the partition.
I´m using Ghost 8.3 to clone the disk.
Can somebody say to me if it is possible

That isnt the problem.
Some tool better than Ghost to do it?
