Hello,

Does anyone have any opinions / suggestions on whether to place the Active
Directory Database and Logs on the system volume or on a separate volume (as
prompted during the AD install wizard)?

As a side question, how big do these file get with large organization with
20k+ users?

Thanks,
John

To enhance performance on DC's that need to handle high
request rates you should hold the OS on one harddrive,
the database on a second drive and the logfiles on a
third drive.

From a contingency point of view it may also be wise to
at least seperate the logfiles and database from the OS
so they do not colide. You should also use mirrored
drives (or RAID5) to prevent dataloss.

Sizing example:
AD size of 100k users currently at approx. 1,5 Gb.
Logfiles are approx 50Mb total.
I would advise to size it maybe 5 times of what you are
expecting (better be on the safe side, disk space is not
that expensive).
