Yes,
Look up SUS or Software Update Server for MS. or you may want to check
out patchlink. There are other products out there I just cannot remember
their names.
I'm dealing with the same issue here. SUS requires IIS - which we do
not have here. All clients have poweruser privs and do not have
admin privs.
I'd like to find a way to push the updates out without having to do a
desktop visit.
At the same time, we have many software packages that are used in our
environment that also have updates and patches issued on a regular
basis. I'd like to find a way to push those updates as well.
Currently we are working with script files and logon scripts, but they
are a bit faulty at times.
The environment I am in, requires that the general PC user does not
have the ability to install their own software, hence the poweruser
privs. But this is becoming a maintenance nightmare for the IT Staff
having to do desktop visits on an almost daily basis to keep up with
the constant software updates from all our software manufacturers.
