Think of it in terms of replacing network neighborhood.
Right now people can browse network neighborhood to find
machines and the folders shared on those machines. Take
away netbios though and network neighborhood goes away.
Users can access published folders by x2 clicking network
places, x2 clicking entire network, x2 clicking
directory. Browse to the OU you published the folders in.
In a sense you could create an ad-hoc dfs. Give different
departments rights to publish folders under their ou and
they can create their own file system.
