Alternatives?
Anyone know a supplier of empty Canon BCI-3e series cartidges?

Hummf. I've just thrown some empty ones away, you could have had them for
the price of the postage

Hi Group.

I decided on the Canon MP600, mostly on the basis that it is able to
print on CDs. (I also junked the idea of networking, since it added
$100 to the cost)

Now I want to "store" the old S4500, which has two facilities that I
might need from time to time. I suspect that purging the ink from the
print heads would be a wise thing to do before I pack it away.

Anyone got any pointers how this can easily be done?

My first (and so far only) thought is to get some empty new
cartridges, fill them with cleaning fluid, then print reasonable sized
areas of the three colours and black until there is no evidence of ink
remaining.

Then store the printheads on a ziplock bag with as much air removed as
I can achieve.

Alternatives?

Anyone know a supplier of empty Canon BCI-3e series cartidges?

TIA

I think your plan is about as good as you can get. Use the cleaning
solution again when you use the printer the next time. But don't be
surprised if the head takes a crap.

http://www.inkjetsaver.com/ sells complete cleaning kits with empty tanks
included.

http://www.alotofthings.com/ also sells cleaning tanks and empty tanks.

I'm not familiar with the MP600, but if the print head is removable like it
is for the Pixma series, you can remove it and let it soak in a bowl of
ammonia water, periodically rinsing it and resoaking it. Once you are
getting no more ink when you put the nozzle end on a paper towel, wrap it
and store it. Has worked for me for a couple of print heads.

Thanks,

Colonel Blip.

HI,

Thanks for the thought, but I should have said "clean" empty
cartidges. I have some "used" empty cartidges that i might try if I
can't get any that have never had ink in them.

Cheers,

LaL
