Purge of Data

There is a request from end users asking for purging data
monthly from system if data reaches 2 years old.

Is it better to ask end users to run a delete query or is
there any way to automate this process ?

Merely deleting data without compacting the database offers little benefit.
I suggest that you have a database administrator archive the data then
delete the aging data and compact the database.
