First of all, what is a PUP? Even though I have the full
McAFee suite of everything they offer, current updates,
and the Microsoft Antispyware Beta, I still get spyware.
I just don't understand. My Pup is in
C:\SystemVolumeInformation\_restore(46DE8921-44D2-A9E9-
64119261F211)-\RP76. I want this crap gone from my brand
new Dell. This just infurates me to the max. HELP. I
am not too computer savy so if someone knows how to get
rid of this I need specific instructions.
Thanks,

If this is the only location it is found in, just ignore it and proceed as
follows:

Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties.
Click on the "System Restore" tab.

Click (check) Turn off System Restore on all drives
Click Apply.

Click (uncheck) Turn off System Restore on all drives
Click OK.

Go to Start, all Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, and
create a new restore point.

PUP = Probably Unwanted Program

Basically they are warning you that you have a potent program installed
on your computer that could wreck havoc if improperly used. I've gotten
PUP alerts on programs from SysInternals utilities, like psexec, and
from Foundstone, for their Attacker tool.

In your case, it sounds like a system restore point has some info on a
program that you have since removed. Clear the restore points (see
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310405).
