I have three 200 gig western digital special editons hard
drives
installed on a promise Ultra100 TX@ Ata card. They are
all partitioned ntfs using partition magic. I have an oem
verison of xp pro which I am not sure if it has a service
pack installed. EIther way I can see all the partitons
prior to downloading all the patches on windows update.
After I start windows updates and install at the
updates. The last drive just disappears. It was there
prior to the update so I know that must be the issue. Has
anyone else come across this problem and if so could they
offer any suggestions? That is one example of what I am
getting. The other that is happening before the updates
is that. I can only see the hard drives showing at 131000
not 200000 for those sized drives. I assumed that with
the ata card this wouldnt be an issue. Two problems but
they seemed intertwinded. Finally another issue I have
noticed in the pass with xp is that I am losing a
partition usually the last partition of any hard drives
usually the slave drive. I say any cuz it has happened
on seperate occassions using same branded hd of dif
sizes. Could you help?
If further info is needed let me know or email me at
(e-mail address removed). Thank you
