Steve

ok I have designed and double and triple checked all my
pages for links,
content, etc and am now trying to publish.

I hit "publish" then typed in my domain address along
with my
username/password...the password prompt box keeps
appearing repeatedly after
I hit ok. when I finally close that box there are
messages saying that there
is no site at that address, and would I like FP to create
one?...I hit yes
and then an error message come up saying that there's
host troubles or no FP
extensions, etc...

I have a valid domain address that's up and working now.
Host is up and
running. I double checked that my host has added FP
extensions. what may I
be doing wrong? nothing seems to be working.

TIA
Steve

What happens when you use File | Publish? Publish only remembers the last
web published to.

ok, excuse me if this seems longwinded, but I just noted
everyhting it's doing when I try to publish.

1. file | publish web
2. "publish destination" window appears where I type in
my domain address
3. password window opens prompting me to log into my
server w/ password...after i type in the password, the
window repeatedly appears.
4. if I close that (password) window, a frontpage window
opens saying "no site at this address, would you like
frontpage to create one?"
5. hit OK
6. frontpage window opens saying "unable to open due tyo
these possible causes: server doesn't have FP extensions,
server temp. out of service, proxy settings, or server
error.
7. hit OK
8. publish destination window appears to start all over
again.

I emailed my host but have not heard back yet. up to this
point I have been manually uploading my current site
through FTP explorer.

added frontpage extensions on my host server.
server is not having problems to my knowledge...

confused?

Steve

Uploading via FTP can corrupt the extensions. Now you need to have your host
re-install the extensions for your account.

In the future if you know the extensions are installed, do not use FTP, wait
until you can contact your host or someone is able to help you help.

my password wasn't being accepted, thus repeating that
window because of case-sensetive username. duh...

site has been published successfully, however when I
viewed it, the old site appeared...I am now removing all
old files in the FTP...

well i THINK i have it now...he he

I should've taken your advice and cleaned out my FTP
before hand...I finally got it published but it reverted
to my old site...I had to go into my FTP and clear out
all my old files and viola! my new site appeared!!!!
WOO HOO!

Now when I go into FP2002 to work on this site, it has me
log into my server before I can view the files. this is
normal right?...then after any revisions I just
click "publish" again

It may be a bit simple but I like it. (especially after
my old one that I grew to dislike)

Yes, you should always have to login to have access to your web content.
