Publishing woes

When publishing my website. I get two messages: one says that
pages have been modified on 9/12/03 and do I want to overwrite.
I say "yes to all."

The second message says there are files on the server that aren't on
my site, and do I want to delete them. I say "No to all." BUT STILL,
it stops publishing on all the files that it says have been modified
with the message: "The page [fill in the blank] has been modified
by (unknown) on 12 Sep 2003 1900:00-0700."

I keep having to go to the control panel and delete the files it sticks
on, but it's sticking on EVERY file that has been modified since the
original publish date.

Technically this isn't me having this issue, I'm posting this for a
good client.

Contact you host, ask then to run a check on the extensions. If the files
that are in your web, but not in your local copy, are your stat files, then
ask your host convert the folder to a subweb.

I am actually the host. I have removed and reinstalled the extensions a few
times.

The files it claims are not on the local web, are there.

Find and delete all web cache files (*.web)
Open the web in FP and run tools recalculate hyperlinks
