While I can publish from FrontPage using FTP (via port 21)
I am unable to publish using HTTP - the server asks for my
login and password but fails to validate my password. This
happens on 5 web sites and is specific to my own computer.
How do I overcome the problem which would appear to be on
Port 80?

Obviously a format and re-load is unattractive.

Thanks in anticipation

Michael

Have you had your host check and or
repair or reinstall the FrontPage Extensions
on the server.

Publishing via http requires extensions.

Thank you - yes, initially we thought this is where the
problem lay. I have since proved that it's a problem with
my machine and my Front Page installation. I have removed
2002 and re-installed 2000 (and changed the extensions on
the server) but without success.

obtw.
Publishing using FTP will break the extensions
and requires that they be reinstalled.
So if you have ftp'd, the extensions are broken
"again"

The extensions on the remote server need to be reinstalled.
It has nothing to do with your local install of FP.

If you have FTP'd to the server the extensions are broken
and you will not be able to http to the server.
Every time you FTP, you break the extensions.

I have removed and re-installed the whole program without
success.

Is this just if you publish with FTP or does this also apply
if you 'manually' FTPd via Windows Explorer or a command
prompt?

I have used the Control Panel at my ISP to remove FP 2000
extensions and to reinstall 2002 extensions. Menawhile, I
have switched back to FP 2002.
Now I get a message that says there is no web at the
address - would I like to creat one (there is a web
there). I say yes and it comes up with 4 reasons why I
cannot publish a web. The main one being no extensions.

Is this my ISPs problem or mine, do you think?

Thank you for your advice so far

Mike
I'm not sure about the Windows or DOS or even IE.
I do know that ftp with FP or another app will break them
unless you ftp to a subweb without the extensions.
