Publishing problem

When I try to publish my site to the web, I get the following message "550
filename not allowed". It seems I am then disconnected. What could be the
problem?

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but in the Publish web box,
some of the files in the lefthand box (my local PC) have question marks
against them while others have ticks. What does this mean?

"Filename not allowed" could be referring to a filename that contains
spaces and/or other non-alphanumeric characters, though the hyphen and
underline characters are permitted.

Or there are fields in the web blocked by the host
- like thumbs.db (delete them)

Thanks for the tips guys. I can't imagine that there is a filename in the
site which isn't allowed. This is because Frontpage itself named most of the
files. (I am using one of the inbuilt themes on my site). I didn't think I
had any thumbnails either but I'll check!

Nothing prevents you from importing any file into a FP Site
Opening your site in Windows Explorer can create thumbs.db files

It is possible that some filenames are too long. A button for a
themed linkbar can have a name containing 2 full points, and 40 or so
characters in the name (depending on the theme name, and the page it
refers to) - the server may be objecting to these. Ask your host if
there is a limit to the length of a filename, some hosts have imposed
a limit of 32 characters in the past.
