I've been publishing my site using FP2002 w/out
extensions. I then changed hosting companies. In our
new site there is a directory that is visible in the
listings, but cannot be read with my permissions (part of
a hosted application). When FP tries to publish and gets
to this directory, it spits out a 550: Permission Denied
error and quits. Is FP trying to synchronize this 'new'
directory to my local web? Can I tell it to skip this
remote directory? Any and all help appreciated!

-Chris

Ask your host to convert this folder to a subweb, if the site has the FP
extensions.

Thomas - Thank you, but FP extensions are not available.
There isn't any way to get FP to stop choking over this
directory w/out using extensions?

-Chris

You can try create a subweb locally of the same name, then just make sure
never to check the box to include subweb when publishing, might work.

Thank you, but this does not seem to work either. I
tried Microsoft technical support. From my perspective,
useless support on a classless product. Another shoddy
experience with a Microsoft product. What a basic issue
to be a stumbling block...

Then use a 3rd Party FTP Application.
