David

My computer crashed.
I need to publish my websites from the remote server back
to my hard drive, BUT, with all the navigation links
intact.(FP 2,000)
I have downloaded article 205729, but do I need a local
webserver installed and if so, how do I do it ?
A little help would be appreciated.
Thanks David.

not hard at all. make an empty web with FrontPage somewhere on your local
computer and close it. in fp click file/ open web. and open the online web
I.e. type the actual http:// address into the dialog box. go ahead and
(with the online web open) click file/ publish, and browse to the folder/
web you just made on your local disk. and fire away. this is the only way
to get all the nav bars etc. from the online web down to your computer.
don't ftp the thing or you'll wind up with a broken web on the server and
nothing for a back up.

Hi David,

You do not need a local web server installed. Just publish to your HD from
the server.

1. In FP open the web site at the server (http://www.mywebsite.com)
2. File | Publish | Browse to a location on your HD (c:\my
webs\mywebsite.com)
3. Publish
