Hi,

we have a customer using FP2003 beta, publishing to a SE2002 site we
are hosting. She can open the website and copy individual files to the
server, but when she tries to do a full publish, the following error
pops up:

"You do not have permission to do this operation. Ask your web site
administrator to change your permissions and then try again, or log on
with a user account that has this permission. To log on with a
different user account click OK."

Her user is an advanced author for the website. It doesn't seem like
an ACL issue, as she can upload/overwrite/delete individual files.
It's just the "publish" function that won't work.
We have re-extended the site, run a check, and such. Has anyone got
any ideas what may cause this?

Regards,
Eric

Sure. You said that "She can open the website and copy individual files to
the server" - If she is doing this instead of using FrontPage to
edit/publish files inside the web, she is breaking the FrontPage server
extensions on the server.

Always use FrontPage to manage FrontPage webs.

Sorry for being ambigious. By copying, I meant that she can open/save,
and create new files inside the web, from frontpage. She cannot touch
the website any other way than by opening it with frontpage.
Everything works, except the "publish" function.

Any other toughts? :-)

Eric

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

Also try "Start"->"Run" to run the following commands one by one.
Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\oledb32.dll"
Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\msdaurl.dll"
Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\msdaipp.dll"

This will register the required information (Web Folders) for the "Open
Web" feature in FrontPage. Also, please make sure the user is able to
access these files with the "Read & Execute" permission. For more
information, refer to 287402 Troubleshooting Web Folders
