Can any mvps recommend a good site for me to contact regarding an article
idea that I have? Its been floating in my head for 10 years and I just have
never gotten around to writing it up.

David:

I've published articles through Database Journal ...
http://www.databasejournal.com/

Send me an email to my hotmail account, shown below,
and I'll send you the name of my editor there. Not sure
that they are taking one-offs for articles, but you never know.

Unfortunately, the two best targets (Smart Access and Access Advisor) have
both stopped publishing. I used to write for both of them, and I've yet to
find a replacement.

If you are looking for a magazine, or a site, to pay you for the article, I
can't be any help (see Doug's comments about the print magazines).

If you just want to publish it, and are willing to do so online, there are a
number of places where you can get a modest-sized website for free (if you
are willing to let them choose and display advertising on it). One of them
is http://www.tripod.lycos.com, though it was reported to me recently that
there was some very persistent advertising that popped up on mine. Google
Advanced Search returned approx 107,000,000 hits on "free web site". And, it
asked if I was really looking for "free website", so there may be even more.

And, if you want a site without the provider's advertising, the least
expensive are very inexpensive.

Thx. I had sent Access Advisor an inquiry last fall and never heard back. I'm
not so much looking for money as I am looking to have it published to finally
get it out of my head.

I handle the website for the company I work for (nothing major by any means),
and if I remember correctly it was $30/yr for the domain itself and like $5 a
month for the hosting. www.tristatemachine.com is the website (3 years now,
never a single ad, emails work great, no complaints whatsoever).

Shoot me an email if you want some more info I'll forward you the contact
information for the guy who runs the hosting company.
