I have a family tree in Frontpage 2003 and would like to publish it to CD to
share with others and have it work properly. I have looked in
support.microsoft, but when I get to Optimizing HTML, I have no idea which
options to select. Would be grateful for help.

Thanks

1st See http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/content/ARTICLES/fp_to_cdrom.html
Process is the same in FP 2003 except publishing which is covered at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP010964291033.aspx

You don't really need to Optimize, but if you chose to see
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP010003191033.aspx

that only says how to copy the website folder to a CD.
I am trying to find out how to make it autoplay in the person's browser
when they insert it into the player.
Most people don't know how to navigate to index.htm to play it.

I tried adding this to the CD in the folder and on the outside on the main
folder of the CD. neither worked. I had to tell the computer what program I
wanted to open it.

"""""To create this autorun file make a new plain text file using Notepad
and copy/paste the 2 lines below into it and then save it as "autorun.inf"
(without the quotes) to the root level of your burn directory (note: this
script requires that your HTML start page be named "index.htm")-

[autorun]
open=start index.htm (my main page is showing .htm not .html as the
index)

I did read it and did the instructions, created auto.inf as text file with
[autorun]
open=start index.htm

made sure my page was htm not html.

I created an auto.inf file put it with the website files on the CD. (Tried
putting the file in the folder and outside the folder in the "root:)
It does not work to make it autorun.

then it says:
More about writing autorun.inf files can be found on-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...latform/Shell/Shell_basics/Autoplay_works.asp

Went to option 2> go to this link, but the link is not available.

That link has been moved to

You may find more info on autoplay at
