Publisher vs Printshop

I know this is a hardware group but when I've started threads on a software
group the users were unresponsive and unfriendly, also I'm sure many of you
can shed some light on this question. I've used ms publisher for a few years
but am getting ready to load up a new machine as my old one is obsolete and
crashes every five minutes. I'm considering buying broderbunds printshop this
time around instead of publisher. One of the things I liked about publisher
was being able to capture images off the web in .bmp files and importing them
to publisher, I'm assuming print shop has the same capability. When I asked
the strore employee (Staples) he didn't have a clue. Thanks in advance for any
insights you can provide on printshop.
 
Well the last version of Printshop I used was pretty prehistoric even to the
earliest version of Publisher. Unless Printshop made some dramatic changes
in the way one can easily maneuver text I'd still stick with Publisher, even
Publisher '97, which IMHO is superior to the bloated versions that followed.

PrintShop has made major changes since the Win3.1 days ;) It does image
editing now, and is Much less expensive than publisher. Also easy to use. A
bit different in approach to Publisher. For the price, Printshop is hard to
beat.

Does it have the ability to capture web images as I did using publisher, that
is right click on the image, save it as a bmp file and then import it into
publisher. Can I import bmp files into printshop? Thanks for your advice.

Errrr, that's not a "feature" of Publisher, you can
right-click-save-to-BMP an image because it's a browser feature.
After you've saved the BMP, you can then import it into anything, any
program that can use images will work fine using that method. You
might want to be careful whose images you're copying, get prior
approval before incorporating them into your works.
 
Ooop, my question didn't come out like I meant, I understand the capture
technique is native to the web browser, I guess the question was does printshop
use .bmp files? Since they are so common I would assume the answer is yes but
then I've been bitten by my assumptions in the past.
