The file on drive F must be part of a web that you have created on your FP drive or you will need
to
import the file and any images, etc. in to the web on drive C, then you will be able to publish
the
file via FP.
When working with FP, you need to always have a web / site open prior to opening a page, etc.

It sounds like I'm either not asking the right question, (quite possible), or
I'm just not being clear in some other way. I had no other anything open. I
had one page open on my screen, & this page is a part of an already published
web. The page resides in a folder on F drive. I simply wanted to update the
page on the server, but clicking publish web opens C drive, & an unpublished
web.
I really just want to know if it is possible to choose where to publish
"from"? Drill down to a file & publish &, if it is, how?
:
How do I "tell" the program where the files I want to publish are?
You open the website containing the pages in Expression Web and publish
the website.
It sounds like you have opened a website on your C drive, and with this
site open, have used File->Open to open a page in a different website
(on the F drive). If you choose to publish, the web on C will be
published, not the web on F. The page open on screen will not be
published - unless it has been saved to the current (open) web.

Thanks for your reply, but it doesn't address the question I'm asking. I
guess I just wasn't clear enough. I have a page open on my screen. The page
is already part of a published web on the server. I make changes to the the
page. I click "publish to web" & a dialog box comes up that says, "publish
from C", & shows the files to be changed on the left & the files that are on
the server on the right. The page I want to change, the one on my screen, is
on "F". How do I "tell" the program where the files I want to publish are?
:
FP only publish web sites, not stand alone pages
- Import the loose pages into your local site (the web site you have open in FP)
- and then Publish to your remote site
(set the remote site location in Remote Web Site View - Remote Web Site Properties

| Another dumb question, but if you need to know, you need to know. I was
| playing with some templates that I downloaded. The templates are on "C". Now,
| when I go to "publish web", it wants to publish these templates. The thing I
| actually want to publish, (change), is the page I have open, which is on
| another drive. I see how to change the destination for the changes, but not
| where to change the "from" folder.
