Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm really scratching
my head on this one. lol

I when you can publish files via ip address
http://IPAddress and view your pages before you change
the nameservers. How do you do this with namebased
websites? Meaning, on my old site it's ip based, but the
new site is namebased. Instead of using WS_FTP, I would
like to upload those files via publish feature on
frontpage and view them. Only option I'm looking at is
to change the name servers and once it's propagated, then
I can publish.

You have to wait until the domain name has been updated in all of the DNS
server, which can take up to 72 hours.

Depends upon the server, but "normally" to
publish to an IP address it's:
http://123.456.789.123/public_html and when you
tell it to publish you "should" be prompted for your "server account"
user name and password.
note the underscore in public_html

Kevin,
In retrospect I was thinking Apache / Unix,
where public_html is the publish destination,
or <root> on the server.
That is how you publish to an Apache / Unix
before the domain name has propagated.
