I've got quite a problem. The problem is, I'd like to
allow other users to connect to my computer when playing
multiplayer games over the internet. Unfortunately, they
are unable to connect due to server issues. The problem
is that they're trying to connect to my private IP, which
begins with 192 and so on. So I take a look at the
ipconfig in MS-DOS, and it just shows me this same IP
address.

So I go to the other computer which is directly connected
to the internet through a router and such to a cable
broadband connection. I check the IP address there in MS-
DOS again, and it's the same 192 thing. I'm on a wireless
LAN so somehow it's protecting my public IP even from
myself. I need to figure out how to get that IP.

To sum it up, I need my public IP address while on a
Linxus (not sure if that's spelled right) Wireless Lan
Conntection. My operating system is Windows XP Home
Edition, and the other computer is running XP
Professional.

Look at using one of the dynamic DNS services that map a fully qualified domain name to the ISPs
DHCP assigned IP address. Typically a small program runs on the PC and contacts the dynamic DNS
services server on a periodic basis. The IP is mapped to the name and that information is propagated
over the public internet. Call using the fully qualified domain name. I use a *FREE* service from
No-IP.com

Others, some free some $$$$, are listed here...

Another alternative is to go to http://www.whatismyip.com and forward that information to your
buddies...
